Willow Tree Early Learning Centre Auckland is seeking a caring and enthusiastic unqualified teacher to join us as a teacher aide. The role supports our teaching team in caring for children aged 0–5 years in a safe and engaging learning environment.

You will assist with learning activities, routines, mealtimes and sleep; build warm relationships with tamariki, whānau and staff; and contribute to a free play, nature-inspired setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in early learning or child care settings.
  • Ability to support teaching staff and engage with young children.
  • Strong communication with children, whānau and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Support kaiako in supervision and care of tamariki aged 0–5 years.
  • Assist with learning activities, play-based experiences, and routines.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean and well-organised learning environment.
  • Support mealtimes, sleep routines and toileting needs as required.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interactions.
  • Build warm, respectful relationships with children, whānau and staff.
  • Follow centre policies, health and safety procedures and daily routines.
  • Assist with setting up and packing down learning spaces and resources.

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic unqualified teacher to join our team as a teacher aide.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous early learning experience to work with young children. Someone who is passionate about supporting tamariki in a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment.

Key tasks

As a teacher aide, you will support our teaching team in the day-to-day care and education of children aged 0–5 years.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • supporting kaiako in the supervision and care of tamariki
  • assisting with learning activities, play-based experiences and routines
  • helping to maintain a safe, clean and well-organised learning environment
  • supporting mealtimes, sleep routines and toileting needs where required
  • encouraging positive behaviour and social interactions
  • building warm, respectful relationships with children, whānau and staff
  • following centre policies, health and safety procedures and daily routines
  • assisting with setting up and packing down learning spaces and resources.
  • Experience working with children.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young children’s learning and development.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A warm, patient and positive approach.
  • Reliability and willingness to learn.
  • First aid certificate.
  • Understanding of Te Whāriki.

We are a beautiful 54 license centre near the heart of Onehunga. Our free play philosophy combined with our natural gardens and collection of resources create an environment where teachers and children can thrive.

We have an experienced and well-established team, enjoy great ratios and are looking for someone to call our centre home.

If you are currently based in New Zealand and you are looking for a great place to work, then we would love to hear from you. NZ experience is required as we have a high standard for child assessment and documentation, however for the right candidate will consider a new graduate who has completed studies in NZ.

Position is permanent. Guaranteed 37 hours per week.

Hourly rate: $28–$36 depending on experience and skills.
