Job summary

Te Puna Ora o Mātaatua in Whakatāne invites applications for a Kaiārahi Rangatahi Taiohi. You will connect with Rangatahi at risk of disengagement, inspiring them to recognise their potential and become their best selves.

You will lead wānanga or group sessions, provide 1:1 follow-up, and contribute to Whānau Ora plans, engaging with whānau, kaimahi, and stakeholders to achieve strong outcomes.

As Kaiārahi Rangatahi Taiohi, your aim is to connect with Rangatahi who are at risk of disengaging from the education system and/or struggling to navigate issues that our Rangatahi currently face. Through an array of your own creative approaches, you will inspire them to recognise their potential and become the best version of themselves.

You will be responsible for implementing wānanga or group sessions with Rangatahi, providing one-on-one follow up support and working towards individualised Whānau Ora plans. Ultimately, we want someone who is able to engage meaningfully to get the best outcomes for our Rangatahi. This is an exciting and innovative opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting our next generation!

For this role, we are looking for someone who has:

Proven ability to engage, develop and maintain relationships with Rangatahi, their whānau, other kaimahi and relevant stakeholders

Confidence to deliver group workshops and/or wānanga

Experience successfully working with Rangatahi in a school setting

Great report writing skills

Knowledge and commitment to Te Reo me ōna Tikanga Māori.
