Job summary

Biotelliga is seeking a capable Research Technician to join the Synthetic Biology team. You will work in a friendly lab environment to develop synthetic biology techniques for engineering microorganisms aimed at improving crop health, applying molecular biology, genetics, and fermentation approaches.

The role requires careful experimental work, ability to follow procedures, and collaboration within a diverse team, with opportunities to contribute to lab management and skills development.

Qualifications

• Honours or master’s degree in molecular biology or related field with at least 2 years’ related experience.
• Experience in bacterial/fungal genetics and genome sequence analysis.
• Experience in molecular biology and microbiology techniques. You should be able to “clone anything” and demonstrate expertise with DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, microbial culture and transformation.
• Experience working in a PC2 laboratory.
• Good data analysis and reporting skills.
• Understanding of relevant statistical analyses and data visualisation.
• Familiar and engaged with quality control, health & safety, and containment requirements in laboratories.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
