Job summary

Access Community Health is seeking skilled Support Workers to provide safe, respectful, and person‑centred care in clients’ homes across Hawke’s Bay. You’ll support high‑needs individuals with daily living, medications, and mobility while honoring each person’s culture and routines.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
  • Spinal injury experience
  • Stoma Management experience
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or otherpeople‑facingroles
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs
  • Own a smartphone
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand
  • Full/restricted driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, respectful, and person-centred support in people’s homes
  • Assist with daily living activities including palliative care, bowel care, dementia care, medication
  • Support clients with mobility and use of hoists safely
  • Adapt approach to individual needs and cultural preferences
  • Demonstrate empathy and maintain confidentiality
