Job summary

IHC New Zealand is seeking a part-time Support Worker to assist adults with intellectual disabilities in Wellington/Hutt Valley. You will support daily living activities, life skills, and community participation, with opportunities to advance through qualifications and long-service benefits.

Roles include flexible shifts across weekdays, evenings, weekends, and sleepovers; training provided; prior health/disability experience preferred.

This rewarding role involves providing practical and social support tailored to each person's individual needs. You could be assisting with daily living activities, developing life skills, accessing community activities, managing finances, preparing meals, attending appointments, or supporting people to pursue employment and hobbies. Depending on the service, you may also assist with personal care, household tasks, medication administration, and mobility support.

This is a part-time position, offering a variety of shifts across weekdays, evenings, weekends, and sleepovers.

• $24.68 - $30.13 per hour depending on relevant qualifications, with the ability to earn more as you gain qualifications.
• IDEA Services will support you towards completion of the Level 2, 3 and 4 Certificates in Health and Wellbeing qualifications.

Prior experience in the health and disability sector is preferred but not required. Astrong desire to pursue a career as a Support Worker with a positive attitude is highly valued. Full training and orientation will be provided to individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

• Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepover shifts.
• Previous experience working with behaviours that challenge and de-escalating situations.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
• Possession of a Full NZ driver's license.
