Job summary

IHC in Blenheim is seeking a Support Worker to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling lives at home and in the community. You will work within our Planned Leave Cover team, providing support across multiple homes with guaranteed hours and a varied roster.

No prior health/disability sector experience is required, as full training and orientation are provided to enthusiastic candidates.

Qualifications

• No formal health/disability sector experience required; training provided.
• Availability for a range of shifts including sleepovers and one weekend every fortnight.
• Must be based locally in Blenheim.

Job description

• Permenant full time - 65+ hours per fortnight

Rosters include AM, PM and sleepover shifts, and working one weekend every fortnight

• $24.68 - $30.13 per hour, based on relevant qualifications

About the role | Mō te tūnga

As a Support Worker, you will empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to lead fulfilling lives at home and within their community. Working as part of our Planned Leave Cover (PLC) team, you'll provide support across multiple homes with guaranteed hours and a varied roster to cover staff leave. Applicants must be based locally in Blenheim.

In this role, you'll:

• Support daily living, personal care and household tasks.
• Encourage independence, choice and community participation.
• Help people achieve their goals and enjoy meaningful activities.
• Build positive relationships and promote health and wellbeing.

No prior experience in the health and disability sector is necessary, but a strong desire to pursue a career as a Support Worker with a positive attitude is highly valued. Full training and orientation will be provided to individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

• A genuine interest in supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling, meaningful lives and achieve their personal goals.
• Availability to work a range of shifts, including sleepovers and one weekend per fortnight.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
• A Full NZ driver's license.
