Job summary

Cromwell General Tyres in Otago is seeking a hands-on workshop supervisor to lead and mentor a small team in a busy tyre workshop. You will oversee tyre fitting, balancing and alignments, ensure work meets standards, and maintain stock while delivering excellent customer service.

This role is full-time and permanent with standard hours and some weekend work. Applicants should have solid tyre workshop experience, leadership skills, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in tyre workshop or commercial service centre.
• Knowledge of tyres, wheels, balancing and alignments.
• Experience leading or supervising a small team.
• Clear communication and customer service.
• Calm under pressure and good problem solving.
• Strong focus on workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule and support workshop technicians
• Oversee tire fitting, wheel balancing and wheel alignment work
• Ensure all work meets industry standards and safety requirements
• Manage customer enquiries, updates and resolution of issues
• Monitor and maintain tire, parts and consumable stock levels
• Enforce health and safety policies and keep the workshop tidy and compliant
• Manage daily workflow and minimise downtime
• Train and mentor team members
• Report to the Manager on operations, performance and stock needs
• Step in and work on the floor during busy periods.

Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

Hours: Monday– 8:00am–5:00pm; Saturday morning.

We supply, fit and maintain passenger, 4x4, light commercial, truck, agricultural and off-road tires, plus wheels and wheel alignments and balancing. We’re known for solid workmanship, reliable service and looking after our customers and team.

Role Overview You’ll oversee all workshop activity, lead and schedule the technicians, maintain quality standards, manage stock, and keep customers happy. You’ll be hands‑on, lead by example, and keep the workshop safe, tidy and productive.

Key Responsibilities
