Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation seeks an experienced Open Pit Drill & Blast Leader to deliver safe, efficient blasting aligned with production targets in Otago, NZ. Enjoy a Mon-Fri schedule with a 9-day fortnight and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will lead drill and blast activities, coordinate with engineers and geotechnical teams, and drive continuous improvement while upholding high safety and cost controls. Residential NZ role with study support and lifestyle perks.

Qualifications

• NZ Certified Handler License required or ability to obtain promptly.
• A-Grade Quarry Manager Certificate preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• 10+ years of open pit mining with drill and blast experience.
• Experience managing large-scale drill and blast operations.
• Demonstrated contractor and commercial management experience.
• Strong knowledge of drilling methods and explosives products.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across drill and blast operations.
• Lead incident investigations and risk assessments in drill and blast area.
• Review drill and blast schedules with engineering and commit to delivery.
• Coordinate drilling, charging, blasting and reporting per mine plan.
• Identify and implement drill and blast optimisation opportunities.
• Work with engineering, geotech, geology and maintenance teams to deliver diggable rock.
• Lead and develop drill and blast supervisors and teams.
• Monitor costs and manage explosives service and supply contracts.

This new position has been created in our Open Pit operation to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drill and blast programs that support production targets, optimize fragmentation, minimize dilution, and maintain compliance with statutory and company requirements.

Key tasks &responsibilities:

• Promote and maintain astrong safety culture across drill and blastoperations
• Ensure compliance with all legislative and company requirements
• Lead incident investigations and risk assessments within drill and blastarea
• Work closely with the engineering team to review drill and blast schedules and then commit to scheduledelivery
• Coordinate all drilling, charging, blasting and reporting activities in accordance with the mineplan
• Identify and implement drill and blast optimisation opportunities
• Work closely with the engineering, geotechnical, geology, maintenance and operations teams to deliver broken rock that meets business requirements, including diggability, ore dilution and wallcontrol
• Lead and develop drill and blast supervisors and operational teams
• Foster and implement ahigh performance culture focussed on safety, personal and team accountability and servicedelivery
• Monitor drilling, blasting and contractorcosts
• Manage drill consumable supply and specifications to minimise the drilled cost/m without compromising safety orquality
• Manage the explosives service and supply contract(s) in accordance with the contract provisions and within OGC contract management frameworks with the aim of delivering the most value forOGC
• Work closely with the Continuous Improvement team to deliver drill and blast improvement projects.
• Benchmark drill and blast performance against industry bestpractice.

Qualifications

• NZ Certified Handler License for Storage, Handling and Use (or ability to obtainquickly)
• NZ AGrade Quarry Manager Certificate of Competence (preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months)
• 10 + years of open pit mining experience including significant drill and blastexperience
• Experience in managing large scale drill and blast operations, including teamleadership.
• Demonstrated contractor and commercial managementexperience.
• Strong knowledge of drilling operations including different drillingmethods
• Strong knowledge of explosives products, including current electronic blasting practices and regulatory requirements,
