Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation invites applications for a Mining Engineer to join the Macraes operation in Otago, New Zealand. This residential role offers the opportunity to deliver professional mining engineering services for open cut operations, working within our Technical Services team.

Responsibilities include designing safe extraction processes, pit layouts, and blast/drill patterns, along with dewatering strategies and weekly/monthly production planning.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mining Engineering
• Two years’ experience in open pit or underground mining
• Experience using CAD software in production environments
• Experience with Mine planning software (MineSight/MinePlan) is an advantage
• Full and current Driver Licence; ability to drive manual vehicles preferred
• B‑Grade Quarry Manager’s CoC, or ability to obtain one preferred

Job Description

Join our Macraes operation and live awork in Otago, New Zealand, with its stunning scenery and outdoors lifestyle! There are few residential mines in the world in such an amazing location. Our Open Pit Tecchnical Services team are hiring an additional Mining Engineer as we continue to grow production. The role provides professional mining engineering services to the open cut operation atMacraes.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Produce and distribute engineering designs for the safe and efficient extraction ofmaterial.
• Create stage designs that meet the budget and operational requirements.
• Make design modifications to pits, dumps, and roads that will improve cashflow and operational efficiency asrequired.
• Design blast masters to optimise miningsequence.
• Design drill patterns to meet operational needs and optimise fragmentation.
• Assess pit, dump, and road design options and costs, and prepare set out plans for construction asrequired.
• Design waste rock stacks and rehabilitation that meet or exceed best practiceguidelines.
• Develop dewatering strategies for existing and newprojects.
• Produce achievable weekly production schedules in line with the monthlyforecast.
• Lead the daily planning meeting to coordinate efficient execution of productionschedules.
• Produce amonthly forecast that considers current operational conditions and budget requirements.
• Evaluate and advise on the most efficient haulageroutes.
• Monitor and report on schedule variances to inform planning assumptions.
• Assist Geotechnical Engineer with pit wall and ground stability monitoring and reporting asrequired.
• Comply with all safety requirements and observe all company policies andprocedures.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mining Engineering, orequivalent.
• Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles ispreferred.
• B‑Grade Quarry Manager’s CoC, or ability to obtain onepreferred.
• Two years’ experience working in open pit mining or underground mining.
• Experience using CAD software in aproduction environment.
• High degree of computer literacy, including experience in mine planning software.Experience with MineSight/MinePlan products anadvantage.
