As a Summer Intern in our City Waters team, you will help develop a practical, risk-based framework for monitoring stormwater pond siltation and maintenance needs. Combining research, field inspections and data analysis, you will help create a consistent way to identify ponds requiring further survey work and prioritise assets approaching a critical loss of capacity.
You will ideally be studying towards, or have recently completed, a postgraduate qualification in an environmental field, with experience or a strong interest in monitoring. You will be safety conscious and confident working around open water and managing field hazards. Skills in GIS, spatial analysis, basic hydrographic or survey techniques, data management, stormwater systems or open-channel hydrodynamics would be valuable. Boating experience or qualifications would also be useful. A full New Zealand driver licence is required.
