Job summary

NZSki invites applications for a reliable Coach Driver during the upcoming summer season (November to April). You will be the vital link for walkers exploring New Zealand’s Great Walks, operating on a dynamic set roster with potential year-round stability for the right person.

Role requires a NZ Class 4 Driver's License with a Passenger endorsement, a professional approach with guests, and the fitness to load gear and equipment. Uniform is provided.

Qualifications

• You’re a people person who stays calm under pressure and delivers excellent service.
• Licensing: NZ Class 4 Driver's License with Passenger (P) endorsement; 4L considered with training.
• Professionalism: comfortable interacting with hikers and executives.
• Reliability: punctual, safety-focused, flexible shifts within roster.
• Fitness: capable of loading gear and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate Fiordland routes, including overnight trips to Milford Sound and hike pickups.
• Maintain a pristine vehicle interior and exterior for a strong first impression.
• Perform pre-trip safety checks, fuel and clean-up, and assist with loading gear when needed.
• Coordinate guest boarding and keep clear communication with the wider team and coordinators.

We are seeking a reliable, professional Coach Driver for the upcoming summer season (November to April). You will be the vital link for walkers exploring New Zealand’s finest Great Walks. Operating on a dynamic mixed, yet set roster, this role offers fantastic variety, great hours, and the potential for year round stability Winter Ski Driving for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

• The Routes & Operations: Operate iconic Fiordland runs, including overnight trips to Milford Sound, Routeburn track drops at The Divide, and hiker pick-ups at the Glenorchy end.
• Vehicle Care: Maintain a pristine vehicle interior and exterior—first impressions are everything, whether arriving at the start of the trip or pick up at the end.
• Safety & Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip safety checks, end-of-day fueling/cleaning, and load luggage or event equipment when needed.
• Logistics & Communication: Manage guest boarding, manifest lists efficiently, and maintain clear communication with wider team and coordinators.

About You

• You’re a "people person" who stays calm under pressure, loves the outdoors, and takes immense pride in your driving standards. You understand that summer work requires flexibility and a "can-do" attitude.
• Licensing: Valid NZ Class 4 Driver's License and a current Passenger (P) endorsement, 4L will be considered with relevant experience and a view to train up
• Professionalism: Comfortable interacting with everyone from backcountry hikers to corporate executives.
• Reliability: Punctual, safety-focused, and prepared for flexible shifts within a set roster.
• Fitness: A reasonable level of fitness for loading track gear, luggage, or event equipment.
• The Extra Edge: Passionate about the southern lakes region, with winter ski-driving experience (or the desire to learn) for year-round continuity.
