Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) is seeking a Study Support Advisor to provide learner-centred academic and learning support to ākonga across Certificate, Diploma, Degree and master’s level programmes. You will work one-to-one, with small groups, in classrooms and online to help learners overcome barriers to engagement and success.

Responsibilities include creating individual support plans, running workshops, identifying at‑risk learners, assisting tutors to teach inclusively,

Qualifications

• A background in education, or equivalent advanced experience and training.
• Experience in a tertiary setting, supporting learners across different programme levels with inclusive, learner-centred practice.
• Experience in coaching or mentoring (or a willingness to develop), and confidence delivering workshops and presentations to learners and staff.
• Confidence in, or a commitment to developing, Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga, and the ability to work in a bicultural environment.

Responsabilités

• Create individual support plans that build learners’ academic skills, resilience, and independence.
• Run workshops, classroom sessions, and targeted support for groups.
• Spot learners at risk early and connect them with the right internal and external services.
• Help tutors and staff teach inclusively through briefings and professional learning sessions.
• Provide reader/writer services and exam and assessment support.
• Help create safe, inclusive, mana-enhancing learning environments, in line with the Pastoral Care Code of Practice.
