Job summary

Babbage Consultants Limited, based in Christchurch, is seeking a driven Structural Engineer to join our Christchurch team and own projects from concept through delivery, including client relationships. You will work toward CPEng registration while contributing to diverse commercial and industrial projects and collaborating with specialists across disciplines.

You’ll lead projects with support from a team that values learning, growth, and a fun, flexible environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years structural engineering experience in NZ
• Aiming for CPEng registration with Engineering NZ
• Strong technical capability across steel, concrete, and timber structures
• Confident communications skills and ability to build client relationships
• Ability to work independently within a collaborative team

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept through to delivery with senior sign-off
• Build strong client relationships and manage expectations
• Support junior team members and collaborate with technicians
• Communicate confidently with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants
• Take initiative to solve problems and deliver high-quality engineering outcomes

You’ll lead projects from concept through to delivery (with final sign-off via a senior engineer), building strong client relationships and supporting the team’s continued growth.
