Job summary

Egis Group in New Zealand seeks an Associate Engineer to lead the planning and delivery of technically complex Building and Structures projects nationwide. You will direct engineering professionals across disciplines and ensure solutions meet client requirements within time and budget.

Ideal candidates have 12+ years in Buildings and Structures, accredited engineering qualifications, knowledge of NZ codes, and CPEng/NER desired.

Qualifications

  • Accredited tertiary qualifications in Engineering with Structural Engineering expertise.
  • NZ-specific knowledge of local engineering codes and standards.
  • CPEng and/or NER highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and advice through the project lifecycle to deliver practical and economical solutions.
  • Lead planning and management of medium to large-scale projects, including tender and design documentation.
  • Manage project performance, financials, and resource planning.
  • Contribute to training and development of junior engineers and project resources.
  • Act as project liaison and provide status reports to clients.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships for ongoing satisfaction.
  • Prepare and review high level and complex technical reports.

As an Associate Engineer in our New Zealand business, your impact will be in the planning and delivery of technically complex Building and Structures projects, nationally. You will also direct technical professionals engaged in inter-related engineering responsibilities.

What you’ll do

  • Provide technical expertise and advice through the different stages of the project lifecycle to deliver practical and economical solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Lead the planning and management of medium to large-scale projects including producing and/or coordinating tender documentation, design documentation/specifications and project deliverables within agreed project timeframes and budget.
  • Manage project performance, financials, and resource planning.
  • Contribute to the training and development of junior engineers and project resources
  • Act as project liaison, monitor project progress and provide project status reports to client/s.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationship/s, to ensure on-going client satisfaction and service delivery.
  • Prepare and reviews high level and complex technical reports.

Ideally, you will have 12+ years’ experience with demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and strong technical expertise within Buildings and Structures within a consultancy environment. In addition, you will also:

  • Accredited tertiary qualifications in Engineering with Structural Engineering expertise.
  • Local knowledge of New Zealand Engineering codes and principles.
  • CPEng and/or NER highly desired.
  • Excellent client management skills with established network within Auckland market.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the management and successful delivery of projects of scope.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, including the ability to interpret and communication technical information to non-engineers.
  • Experience in managing a project team to deliver high profile projects in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with stakeholders, authorises, clients and contractors at all levels.
  • An encouraging attitude towards helping to develop members of the team as well as drive to grow your own career.
