Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is seeking a Workforce Planning Lead to head the Workforce Planning Hub and oversee a team delivering 24/7 staffing solutions across residences. The role combines strategic development with hands-on delivery of rostering, forecasting and data-driven decision-making.

You will build strong relationships with operational leaders, leverage workforce data, and implement a national rostering approach that supports safety, continuity and quality care for tamariki

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading workforce planning, scheduling or rostering within a large, 24/7 operation.
• Strong ability to develop and implement workforce management systems and frameworks.
• Advanced analytical skills to translate data into insights and recommendations.
• Experience building and leading high‑performing teams and driving change.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and manage relationships.

Responsibilities

• Leading and developing the Workforce Planning Hub team.
• Designing, implementing and embedding a national workforce rostering approach.
• Providing expert advice on workforce planning, scheduling and forecasting.
• Analyzing workforce trends, risks and data to support strategic decisions.
• Building strong relationships with operational leaders and stakeholders nationally.
• Driving continuous improvement in planning systems, processes and reporting.
• Supporting safe staffing and workforce sustainability across residences.
