Job summary

Whangārei District Council is seeking an Asset Manager - Data (Transportation) to manage data and systems underpinning transport asset planning and investment decisions across the district.

You will lead data quality, model transport networks, and collaborate with engineering, planning and inf rastructure teams to support long‑term growth and resilience of Whangārei’s transport network.

Qualifications

• A degree-level qualification in Engineering, Asset Management, Information Systems, ICT, or a related discipline.
• Experience managing asset management systems such as RAMM, AWM, Hansen or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of asset management principles and data quality.
• Experience with life-cycle planning, condition assessments, and deterioration modelling.
• Experience using Power BI or similar analytics tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the transportation asset database with high-quality information.
• Lead data improvement initiatives to enhance data reliability.
• Advise on asset management systems, processes, and best practices.
• Support development and improvement of the Transportation Activity Management Plan.
• Develop and monitor performance measures for maintenance and renewals.
• Manage the transport asset vesting process for new developments.
• Provide strategic advice on asset data maturity and system opportunities.
• Support long-term transport planning, renewal forecasting, and investment optimisation.
• Assist with asset valuations, depreciation, audit reporting, and NZTA reporting.
• Maintain transport network models to enable evidence-based decisions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data meets needs.
