Auckland Council’s Property department has an opportunity for an experienced Strategic Property Specialist to join our Optimisation, Acquisitions and Disposals team.
This is a role for someone who enjoys looking beyond individual properties and seeing the bigger picture.
You’ll assess Auckland Council Group assets, identify opportunities to unlock greater value, and provide strategic advice on development, optimisation, acquisition and disposal. You’ll bring together property, planning, development, financial and market perspectives to help shape decisions that deliver better outcomes for Auckland.
Working across Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and designated CCO property portfolios, you’ll have the opportunity to identify connections and opportunities across the wider portfolio, challenge conventional thinking and help ensure our property assets are working as effectively as possible for the organisation and the communities we serve.
This is a complex environment, so you’ll need to be comfortable navigating competing priorities, influencing a wide range of stakeholders and turning sound analysis into clear recommendations and action.
This role requires significant experience across property, development or valuation, together with a strong understanding of local government and the Auckland property environment.
We’re looking for someone who can think strategically, see the connections others might miss, and confidently turn complex information into practical recommendations. You’ll be commercially astute, highly organised and driven to achieve outcomes, while having the interpersonal skills and resilience to operate effectively in a complex and sometimes politically sensitive environment.
You’ll also need a full, clean NZ driver’s licence, or another practical means of travelling across the Auckland region.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with the drive to make things happen. You’ll need the confidence to ask questions, challenge thinking, build strong relationships and keep moving towards an outcome when things get complicated.
