Job summary

MBIE is seeking a Programme Manager, Gas in Wellington to lead planning, governance, reporting and delivery oversight of a nationally significant energy programme. You will drive work streams across MBIE and other agencies, set up governance, manage performance, risks, budgets and resources, and build influential relationships for high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading large, complex, high-profile policy programmes within the public sector.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels across government and external organisations.
• Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to identify risks, opportunities, and priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to unite diverse stakeholders and drive collaboration towards shared outcomes.
• Demonstrated success translating strategic objectives into programme plans and delivering results.
• Experience working across agencies and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
• Strong understanding of government decision-making processes and public sector operating environments.
• Knowledge of commercial, procurement, financial, and infrastructure-related considerations.
• Proven leadership and people management capability.
• Sound judgement, integrity, diplomacy, and a solutions-focused approach.
• Legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
