Job summary

Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga – Ministry of Housing and Urban Development NZ is seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting and Control in Wellington on a fixed-term basis until 30 June 2027. You will lead the Financial Reporting and Control team to deliver high-quality financial accounting services and provide strategic advice to strengthen operations.

Qualifications

• Proven strategic financial management experience in a complex and changing environment with a finance qualification such as CA or CPA.
• Proven people and operational leadership experience, ideally within the public service, and ability to lead inclusive, diverse teams.
• Sound knowledge of government and public sector processes with strong business acumen linking plans to priorities.
• Strong judgement, relationship and communication skills with ability to identify risks and provide trusted advice.

Responsibilities

• Leading external and statutory reporting, including reporting to the Treasury, annual financial reporting, Estimates and Supplementary Estimates.
• Ensuring effective financial controls, tax compliance, balance sheet management and transaction processing.
• Coordinating external financial audit deliverables and liaison with external auditors.
• Providing technical financial advice on Ministry programmes and investments.
• Leading business improvement initiatives that strengthen controls and streamline Oracle financial system usage.
• Leading, mentoring and developing an inclusive, high-performing team.
