Job summary

NZ Transport Agency | Waka Kotahi (NZTA) seeks an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead architecture across Data and Asset domains. This strategic role aligns enterprise thinking, technology direction and delivery enablement, partnering with the Head of Data & AI to shape platforms and standards that support digital services for New Zealand.

You will balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, guiding architecture decisions and collaboration across delivery teams to achieve

Qualifications

• Significant experience in enterprise, solution or technology architecture.
• Knowledge of data platforms, information management and analytics.
• Experience developing technology strategies and roadmaps.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and investment decisions.
• Experience across complex product, platform and delivery environments.
• Strong systems thinking and problem-solving.
• Understanding of data, technology enabling outcomes and digital services.
• Ability to translate complex concepts into strategic direction.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture direction for the Data and Asset domains.
• Develop target states, roadmaps and strategic technology guidance.
• Partner with the Head of Data & AI to shape NZTA’s enterprise data and AI capabilities.
• Guide data platforms, information management services, analytics capabilities and asset technology ecosystems.
• Identify opportunities for standardisation, simplification and reuse.
• Provide strategic domain guidance to solution architects and delivery teams.
• Influence technology investment decisions and organisational priorities.
• Ensure enterprise architecture principles are reflected in product and platform development.
• Balance strategic leadership with pragmatic delivery and priorities.
