Job summary

The Warehouse Group is looking for a Store Project Lead to drive the delivery of new stores, relocations and major refurbishments across New Zealand. You will lead projects from planning through handover, ensuring safety, on-time delivery and staying within budget.

You will collaborate with Property, Design, Merchandise, Operations and external partners to create stores that are ready to succeed from day one. Regular NZ travel and some overnight stays are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering construction, capital works, fit-out or development projects from start to finish.
• Strong project planning, scheduling and programme management capabilities.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasting and cost control.
• Proven ability to manage contractors, consultants and external partners.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Solid understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements.
• Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering or related discipline.

Job Description

As the Store Project Lead, you'll be the driving force behind the successful delivery of store development projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standards. You'll lead every stage of the project lifecycle, from planning and procurement through to construction, handover and store opening.

Regular NZ based travel will be required for this role including some overnight stays.

Working closely with teams across Property, Design, Merchandise, Operations, Finance and external partners, you'll balance commercial outcomes with exceptional project execution to deliver stores that are ready to succeed from day one.

• Overseeing construction fit out activities and ensuring health and safety compliance.
• Leading store handovers and ensuring operational readiness for successful openings.

Qualifications

You'll be a confident and commercially savvy project leader who enjoys taking ownership and delivering results.

You’ll Likely Have

• Proven experience delivering construction, capital works, fit-out or development projects from start to finish.
• Strong project planning, scheduling and programme management capabilities.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasting and cost control.
• A track record of successfully managing contractors, consultants and external partners.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A solid understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements.
• A tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Property or a related discipline.

Experience in retail, multi-site environments, store development or refurbishment projects will be highly regarded. Project management certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are also advantageous.
