Job summary

Tradestaff Dunedin is seeking an experienced STMS to join a busy team working across a range of sites in Dunedin. Immediate start available. STMS A&B qualification preferred; Class 2 licence highly preferred; strong safety focus and hands-on leadership.

You will set up and manage temporary traffic management sites, implement TMPs, perform site checks, and lead crews while ensuring safe passage for traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists. Weekly pay and competitive hourly rate based on experience.

Qualifications

• Current STMS qualification (A&B) preferred and essential for the role.
• Class 1 licence is required; Class 2 licence is preferred.
• Hands-on traffic management experience on multiple sites.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in worksites.
• Excellent communication and professional attitude required.
• Ability to lead a crew and work independently.
• Reliable, punctual, and capable of passing a pre-employment drug/alcohol test.
• Two recent work references and NZ working rights are required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and manage temporary traffic management sites across Dunedin.
• Implement and work from Traffic Management Plans (TMPs).
• Carry out site checks and identify potential hazards.
• Manage traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists safely through worksites.
• Lead and support traffic management crews on-site.
• Monitor changing site conditions and adjust traffic management as needed.
• Complete required paperwork, reports and site documentation.
• Communicate clearly with clients, contractors, crew, and the public.
• Assist with general site duties when required.

STMS – Dunedin

We’re looking for an experienced STMS to join a busy team working across a range of sites in Dunedin. We’re particularly interested in someone with STMS A & B experience, with a Class 2 licence highly preferred. If you’re confident managing traffic on-site, have a strong safety focus and aren’t afraid to get stuck in when needed, we’d like to hear from you.

Location: Dunedin

Start date: Immediate start available

Pay rate: Competitive – based on experience and qualifications

What you’ll be doing:

• Setting up and managing temporary traffic management sites
• Implementing and working from Traffic Management Plans (TMPs)
• Carrying out site checks and identifying potential hazards
• Managing traffic, pedestrians and cyclists safely through worksites
• Leading and supporting traffic management crews on-site
• Monitoring changing site conditions and adjusting traffic management where required
• Completing required paperwork, reports and site documentation
• Communicating clearly with clients, contractors, your crew and the public
• Assisting with general site duties when required

What we’re looking for:

• Current STMS qualification – A & B preferred
• Class 2 driver’s licence preferred
• Previous hands-on traffic management experience
• Full Class 1 driver’s licence as a minimum
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements
• Confident leading and working alongside a crew
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude
