Job summary

Legends Global is seeking a Steward Supervisor for Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre to lead a busy back-of-house team and ensure top‑tier cleanliness and hygiene in a high-volume setting. You will coordinate cleaning schedules, manage equipment logistics, and support event operations while upholding manaaki values.

You must be eligible to work in New Zealand and pass a Criminal History Check; weekend/evening shifts are expected as part of event calendars.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a busy hospitality or kitchen team.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and WHS.
• Experience with commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning chemicals.
• Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented approach.

• Perform administrative duties to ensure smooth department operations.

In this pivotal role, you’ll support our kitchen brigade by coordinating and managing all cleaning and hygiene schedules, leading a diverse casual team, and ensuring our stewarding operations run smoothly and efficiently. You’ll be instrumental in maintaining high standards, supporting event logistics, and upholding the manaaki values that define Te Pae Christchurch.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supervising the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen and back‑of‑house areas.
• Overseeing bulk washing of cutlery, crockery, and glassware.
• Coordinating the set‑up and breakdown of catering events.
• Managing stewarding schedules, food safety records, and equipment logistics.
• Leading, training, and inspiring a motivated stewarding team.
• Supporting financial targets through efficient use of chemicals, labour, and resources.

• Collaborating with the Chief Steward and Executive Chef to maintain open communication and operational excellence.
