The Opportunity
Inspired by the product and the challenges it solves, you will work closely with teachers and customers to shape and extend Kami’s platform. This role blends technical leadership with an owner’s mindset, enabling you to lead engineering improvements while collaborating with cross‑functional partners.
What You’ll Do
- Provide technical leadership and direction—review prioritisation processes, guide engineering progress, and drive design and development of complex software architecture.
- Mentor and coach engineering staff, modelling best practices in coding, testing, security, and maintainability.
- Lead continuous improvement of the Kami application, maintaining functional and quality standards across JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, AngularJS, VueJS, Java, and Rails.
- Champion cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and customers, translating holistic requirements into actionable engineering plans.
- Act as a technical subject‑matter expert, analysing data, commercial information, and ambiguous problems to devise and evaluate structured, iterative solutions.
What You’ll Bring
- 9+ years of experience developing web‑based applications for global users.
- Deep fluency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and large Single Page Applications.
- Strong experience with frontend frameworks/libraries such as React, AngularJS, VueJS.
- Experience with backend tools such as Rails, Rust, and Typescript.
- Strong product sense and the ability to work with customers to design bespoke solutions.
- Experience with high‑performance code, profiling with Chrome Developer Tools.
- Fast adoption of new technologies.
- Excellent communication, engagement, and collaboration skills.
- Positive, passionate, and collaborative mindset.
- Familiarity with technologies like TypeScript, React, Ruby, Rails, Cockroach, Kafka, Datadog, and Google Cloud Platform is desirable.
