Job description

We’re working with a growing SaaS company in the fintech space that is looking for a Staff Engineer to play a key role in the continued development and evolution of their platform.

This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on application development, alongside a meaningful DevOps and cloud engineering component. You’ll be working primarily across .NET Core and React, with Azure and DevOps also being a strong component of the role (60-70% application development, and 30-40% on the DevOps side)

As a Staff Engineer, you will be a senior technical leader responsible for defining and implementing our technology strategy, mentoring engineering teams, and delivering high impact software solutions. This role is crucial to our continued growth and technological advancement, positioning you as a key contributor to our long term vision and success.

Key responsibilities

Design and architect scalable software systems that align with business objectives and technical best practices

Lead the technical direction and strategy for key engineering initiatives across the organisation

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, and operations to deliver complex software solutions

Conduct code reviews and establish coding standards to maintain code quality and consistency

Identify and address technical debt, proposing solutions to improve system performance and reliability

Participate in architectural decision-making and provide technical guidance on major projects

Contribute to recruitment and hiring efforts to build strong engineering teams

Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, sharing knowledge with the team

What we're looking for

10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior or staff-level role

Proven expertise in designing and building large-scale, distributed systems

Strong proficiency in C# (ideally .NETCORE)

Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (Ideally AWS or Azure)

Deep understanding of software architecture patterns, microservices, and system design principles

Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation

A genuine interest in using AI tools extensively as part of your engineering workflow

Preferred: Experience in high-growth technology companies or scale-up environments
