Job summary

Vista Group is seeking a hands‑on Senior Software Engineer – Team Lead to lead a squad of full‑stack engineers, coordinating and communicating across the team. You will ensure high‑quality code, contribute to architecture and roadmap, and design and implement solutions both independently and with peers.

You will mentor engineers, drive continuous improvement, and partner with the Engineering Manager on interview processes and team growth.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a Team Lead or similar role.
• Strong mentorship abilities and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Experience as a senior-level backend software engineer.

Responsibilities

About the role

This hands‑on Senior Software Engineer – Team Lead will lead a squad of full‑stack Software Engineers, collaborating, coordinating, and communicating throughout the team.

The role involves maintaining best‑practice code quality, design, and architecture, contributing to the larger codebase and technology roadmap, and designing, developing and implementing solutions both independently and through peer development.

Responsibilities

• Motivate and lead the team, encouraging, guiding, and directing Engineers in your squad, supporting them to become self‑organised and to take ownership.
• Foster an environment of continuous improvement, sharing ideas, learnings, and technologies with the team to inspire innovation.
• Support team members’ learning and growth; lead by good example.
• Work with the Engineering Manager to establish healthy collaboration and communication processes such as code reviews, test shares, design discussions, etc.
• Guide a team of Engineers to deliver high‑quality, innovative solutions, acting as a Lead Engineer in the delivery of quality software architecture and code.
• Assist the Engineering Manager with technical interviews, selection, induction, and mentoring of new team members, ensuring they are well integrated, trained, and supported.
• Provide employee reviews, support, and team‑building; recommend additional training where necessary.
• Act as a communication point to the team and other stakeholders, communicating early when timeframes are at risk.
• Report team progress to the Engineering Manager and help refine the Strategic Objectives.

Qualifications

• Well‑developed people‑management skills with proven leadership experience in a Team Lead or similar role.
• Ability to provide strong mentorship and establish and maintain key relationships with stakeholders.
• Proven experience in a senior‑level back‑end Software Engineer role.
