Job summary

Talent Army seeks a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join a cross-functional squad building scalable, cloud-native applications. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll write code, shape architecture, and lift engineering standards across the team.

You’ll play a key part in a active legacy-to-modern migration (AngularJS to React, PHP to Go) and work with Product and Engineering Leadership from the Auckland hub, fostering a high-performance engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer or technical leader.
• Strong React and TypeScript experience preferred.
• Backend experience with Go, TypeScript, Java, or C#; willingness to learn other languages.
• AWS cloud infrastructure and modern cloud architecture experience.
• Experience building and consuming APIs and event-driven services.
• Automated testing including unit and integration testing.
• Agile delivery experience; mentoring is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on; write code, shape architecture, raise engineering standards.
• Influence legacy-to-modern migration (AngularJS to React, PHP to Go).
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering Leadership to deliver platform goals.
• Mentor teammates and promote best practices in testing and delivery.

Engineering is organised around domain-focused squads rather than single products, with close collaboration between Product, Engineering Leadership, and engineers. The Auckland team is a key hub as the business scales its platform ambitions.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join a cross-functional squad building scalable, cloud-native applications. This is a hands-on technical leadership role - you'll write code, shape architecture, and help lift engineering standards across the team. You'll have genuine influence over an active legacy-to-modern migration (AngularJS to React, PHP to Go), not just feature delivery.

• Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Full Stack Engineer, or similar technical leadership role
• Strong React and TypeScript experience would be ideal
• Backend experience in Go, TypeScript, Java, C#, or a similar OO language - if you don't have these languages but are keen to learn then please still apply
• AWS (or equivalent) cloud infrastructure and modern cloud architecture experience
• Experience building and consuming modern APIs and event-driven services
• Automated testing practice, including unit and integration testing
• Agile delivery experience (Scrum, Kanban, or similar); mentoring experience highly regarded
