Job summary

Leabank School is seeking a Specialist Teacher to lead a targeted withdrawal-based programme for ORS High/Very High Needs learners, with a portion of the day away from the class and a small classroom release component. The role focuses on designing tailored daily learning plans tied to IEP goals and delivering functional skills and positive behaviour support.

You will guide a team of Learning Assistants, track progress, and liaise with external agencies and whānau to build strong partnerships.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching students with ORS High/Very High Needs and sensory needs.
• Strong initiative, flexibility and record-keeping skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in specialist education.

Responsibilities

• Design and facilitate tailored daily learning programmes aligned with IEP goals.
• Lead and mentor Learning Assistants supporting ORS students.
• Maintain progress tracking and liaise with external services and whānau.
• Collaborate with class teachers to reintegrate students after specialist time.
