Te āheinga: The opportunity

A new era in vocational education is unfolding in Tāmaki Makaurau. Manukau Institute of Technology and Unitec, two trusted institutions with over 50 years of service, are coming together to create a unified, future-focused learning environment. This transformation is about more than education; it’s about building an inclusive system that reflects the aspirations of our diverse communities, industries, and Māori across the region.

Join a team dedicated to helping learners take the next step in their educational journey. As a Specialist (Enrolment Processing), you will play an important role in assessing applications and providing personalised support to prospective students from application through to enrolment.

Working closely with applicants and academic schools, you will deliver a high-quality, student-centred experience through one-to-one engagement, telephone outreach, and digital communications. You will assess applications against entry requirements, provide clear and timely guidance, and help applicants explore alternative study options where needed, ensuring they are well informed and supported in their decision-making.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student success while working across a diverse portfolio of programmes, supporting both domestic and international applicants.

You'll have:

  • Proven experience in enrolment processing, admissions, or a customer-focused environment, with the ability to deliver a positive, applicant-centred experience from application through to enrolment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with applicants, whānau, academic staff, and stakeholders through telephone, email, and digital channels.
  • Sound judgement and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately assess applications, interpret entry requirements, and ensure timely, high-quality outcomes.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach, enabling you to guide applicants through study options, alternative pathways, programme offers, and enrolment decisions.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy and service excellence.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Schools and stakeholder groups to coordinate interviews, programme placements, offers, and enrolment activities.
  • Confidence using student management systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, to manage records, communication, and administrative processes efficiently.
  • An understanding or desire to learn te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
