Job summary

Hamilton North School in the Waikato region of New Zealand invites applications from reflective practitioners for a primary/intermediate teaching role (Years 1–8) with a Special Duties Allowance. The successful candidate will support diverse learners aged 5–21 with complex needs, using relational pedagogy and student-centred approaches.

You will join a collaborative team, align practices with strategic direction, and participate in extensive PLD around Russell Bishop's Teaching to the North

Responsibilities

• Teach across Years 1–8 in a primary/intermediate setting.

Do you have a passion for supporting students who experience and learn about their world in diverse and unique ways? Do you enjoy creating engaging, student-centred learning experiences that make a real difference?

We are seeking reflective and adaptable practitioners to join our team, working with diverse groups of students (ages 5-21) with complex learning needs.

About you

You have proven experience in a New Zealand classroom, strong relational pedagogy, and the professional maturity to handle complex needs with grace. You enjoy the puzzle of "how does this child learn best?" and you’re ready to grow alongside a team. A sense of humour, patience, and compassion are vital.

Strategic direction and growth

We need educators who actively align their practice with our school direction. In 2027, our staff are embarking on extensive PLD around Russell Bishop's Teaching to the North East. We want a teacher ready to commit to this relational, high-expectations journey alongside us. While specialist pedagogy is an advantage, full training and ongoing support will be provided.
