Job summary

Kumaravine - Celebrating Māori & Pasifika success in Christchurch is seeking a Special Education Advisor to strengthen Learning Support. This permanent, part-time role (0.6 FTE) focuses on inclusive practices, collaboration with schools, families and multi-disciplinary teams.

You'll assess needs, provide guidance, and develop evidence-informed interventions while promoting Te Ao Māori and tikanga. A full driver’s licence is preferred and the role emphasises cultural responsiveness.

Qualifications

• A relevant primary or secondary teaching qualification.
• A postgraduate qualification in special education would be advantageous.
• 3 + years teaching experience
• Experience supporting students with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Enhancing inclusive practices in schools and other educational settings.
• Providing professional support and guidance to schools, teachers and families and building the capacity of those who are best placed to support the learning of children and young people.
• Providing appropriate specialist assessment and analysis for collaboratively planned evidence informed interventions.
• Working as part of a trans-disciplinary team where a child's needs are complex.
• There are opportunities for involvement in individual casework, targeted (group) work, and universal (systems level) work.
