Job summary

NZ Ministry of Education – Christchurch, South Island is seeking a Special Education Advisor (0.6 FTE, permanent, part-time) to strengthen Learning Support in the region. You will collaborate with schools, families and teachers to promote inclusive practices and evidence-informed interventions.

The role involves multi-agency coordination, specialist assessments, and regional impact across diverse communities.

Qualifications

• A relevant primary or secondary teaching qualification.
• 3+ years teaching experience.
• Experience supporting students with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Enhancing inclusive practices in schools and other educational settings.
• Providing professional support and guidance to schools, teachers and families; building capacity.
• Providing specialist assessment and analysis for collaboratively planned interventions.
• Working in a trans-disciplinary team for complex needs.
• Involvement in casework, targeted work, and systems-level initiatives.
