Job summary

Downer Group seeks a commercially astute Special Projects Manager - South to provide regional leadership across Transport & Infrastructure, reporting to the Capability Manager - South. Wellington is preferred, with flexibility for Hawke's Bay, Manawatū, Christchurch or Dunedin and travel across the South.

The role strengthens capability across the South Region by supporting teams to deliver maintenance and construction projects safely, efficiently and in line with The Downer Standard and

Qualifications

• Proven leadership capability enabling high performing teams.
• Demonstrated experience in project or contract management within infrastructure.
• Commercial management experience in maintenance and/or construction.
• Experience managing a pipeline of opportunities including pre-position and pre-bid activity.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end to end project delivery including planning, scheduling, budgeting and risk management.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and construction contracts.
• Analyse and optimise business processes to improve efficiency, productivity and quality.
• Provide hands on involvement and support across key contracts.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Executive General Manager - South, Capability teams, Regional Managers, Commercial & Risk Managers and Finance.
• Lead by example in driving Zero Harm and sustainability outcomes.
