Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a kitchen superstar to work with the Head Chef and manage daily kitchen operations in collaboration with management and kitchen staff. You will help deliver exceptional dining experiences, maintain high food quality standards, and contribute to menu development.

The role involves planning and updating menus, introducing new dishes based on customer feedback, cooking, plating, seasoning, coordinating with staff, and ensuring safe storage and handling of ingredients.

Qualifications

  • Must have 2-3 years of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to plan, design and update the food menu
  • Work on introducing new dishes and refining existing ones based on customer feedback and preferences
  • Cook meals and season food during cooking
  • Portion food, plate, and add gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff on food preparations such as marinating, making sauces, etc.
  • Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements
  • Check food and ingredients stocks and ensure that the quality is maintained
  • Secure food and ingredients and ensure that it is stored in temperature-controlled facilities
  • Assist in managing incoming items from suppliers
  • Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
