Job summary

Seequent, headquartered in New Zealand, is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Christchurch-area team. You will work across cross‑functional groups to deliver robust software that helps customers understand subsurface geology and resource challenges.

You will design, code, test, and document moderately complex programs, while contributing to DevOps practices and mentoring junior engineers. This role supports hybrid work with three days in the Christchurch office and coordination across

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Familiarity with CI/CD Pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Python and C++.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake complete design of moderately complex software applications or components.
• Assist in the design of components for larger software systems and specify interfaces.
• Create design views addressing stakeholder concerns and security requirements.
• Design, code, verify, test, document, amend, and refactor moderately complex programs.
• Apply standards, tools, patterns, and security measures for well‑engineered results.
• Monitor progress and propose practical solutions to issues.
• Support release planning, scheduling, and coordination with relevant teams.
• Participate in testing and quality assurance activities for releases.
• Document and report release outcomes to stakeholders.
• Collaborate in reviews and help evaluate options and trade‑offs.
