Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a skilled web software engineer to innovate, develop, test and deploy new solutions within project and support capacities during office hours. You will quickly learn the current framework and tech stack, collaborating across teams to deliver features on time.

You will contribute to a dynamic product team, work with Java, JavaScript, React, and related tooling, and participate in CI/CD pipelines while emphasising quality and user experience.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of web development experience with React, TypeScript and JavaScript
• Experience across service layer with a product mindset
• Familiar with Jira, Confluence and Agile practices

• Design and develop new product features with minimum defects.
• Contribute to component library and release activities.
• Deliver project sprint commitments on time and with quality.

In this rewarding role you will be responsible for innovating, developing, testing, and implementing new software solutions within project and support/maintenance capacities during office hours. You will be expected to quickly master the current framework, and technology stack.

• Actively engage in requirement analysis discussions and come up with technical solutions.
• Design and develop new product features with minimum defects.
• Contribute to component library.
• Deliver project sprint commitments on time.
• Participate in Agile software development practices.
• Create, review, and maintain documentation.
• Assessing, analysing, and implementing change based on design and request
• Utilises experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Promptly respond to production incidents by troubleshooting and providing solutions to them.
• Release and deployment activities (i.e. logging results, documenting technical activity undertaken)

Nā ū rourou | What will you bring?

• 2-5 years substantial web development experience in React, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Knowledge across service layer. Affinity with UX/UI and an eye for detail is beneficial.
• Experience with building a product
• Products used include but not limited to Java, JavaScript, Angular, Redux, Redux-Saga, SASS, HTML5, Jest, React-Testing-Library, Webpack, Docker, Jenkins, Git & Bitbucket, Selenium, Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines is beneficial.
• Experience with functional programming
