Job summary

Westpac New Zealand Limited is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a cross-functional team building and implementing APIs for Westpac's Digital applications. You will drive design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of features and participate in Agile practices.

The role requires 7–10 years of experience with Java, Apache Camel, SQL, Kubernetes/Docker, Cucumber, and Jenkins, and offers opportunities to lead technical decisions and deliver high-quality code in a collaborative

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of commercial software experience for intermediate and 7–10 years for senior level with Java, Apache Camel, SQL, Kubernetes / Docker (infrastructure), Cucumber (testing), and Jenkins (CI/CD Pipelining) or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently to deliver solutions from basic requirements.
• Capability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to team members on code quality and best practices.
• Engage in requirement analysis discussions and propose technical solutions.
• Design and develop new product features with minimum defects.
• Deliver project sprint commitments on time.
• Participate in Agile software development practices.
• Create, review, and maintain documentation.
• Conduct POCs to research and identify optimal solutions.
• Utilises experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Promptly respond to production incidents by troubleshooting and providing solutions.
