Job summary

Westpac New Zealand Ltd. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a cross-functional team building and implementing APIs for Westpac's Digital applications. You will continue design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of features across services.

The role requires 7-10 years of commercial experience with Java stack, CI/CD, and containerised infrastructure. You will participate in code reviews, requirement analysis, and deliver features with high quality while adhering to Agile

Qualifications

• 5-7 years for intermediate and 7-10 years for senior level of commercial experience with Java, Apache Camel, SQL, Kubernetes / Docker (infrastructure), Cucumber (testing), and Jenkins (CI/CD Pipeling) or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently to deliver solutions from basic requirements.
• Capability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
• Practical experience with CI/CD methodologies, processes, and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High-quality code.

Responsibilities

• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to team members on code quality and best practices.
• Engage in requirement analysis discussions and propose technical solutions.
• Design and develop new product features with minimum defects.
• Deliver project sprint commitments on time.
• Participate in Agile software development practices.
• Create, review, and maintain documentation.
• Conduct POCs to research and identify optimal solutions.
• Utilise experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Promptly respond to production incidents by troubleshooting and providing solutions.
