Job summary

ASB Bank is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Digital Workplace Platform. You will collaborate across teams to build secure integrations and automate agent-facing experiences for staff and customers.

The role requires contributing across the full SDLC, with a strong emphasis on DevOps practices, testing, and high-quality code. A hybrid work arrangement with Albany office support is available, and continuous learning is encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • Certifications in automation technology where applicable.
  • Working knowledge of Agile ways of working and basic understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to contribute across the SDLC, delivering work with minimal hand-offs.
  • Willingness to learn and work through unfamiliar or non-routine technical issues.
  • Developing understanding of financial services regulation, risk, and compliance.
  • Clear communication skills and willingness to share knowledge.
  • Experience in configuring and deploying strategy within a collection platform preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to automation initiatives within the Insight and Care Squad.

Software Engineer - Digital Workplace Platform

Our ASB Digital Workplace Platform (Insight and Care Squad) is growing. We support the staff assisted Guidance & Advice Tool, It's a product advice feature and decision engine which is used by staff to provide guided advice to existing and prospective customers. It is also the main tool for record keeping for non advice conversations in Personal and Business Banking - to provide information and action requests.

We’re looking for a multi-talented Software Engineer with Automation expertise. In this role you will collaborate across teams, and build secure, high-quality integrations and agent-facing experiences for our customers and colleagues.

Join our Digital Workplace Platform team as a Software Specialist supporting the Insight and Care that manages staff assisted Guidance & Advice Tool. It's a product advice feature and decision engine which is used by staff to provide guided advice to existing and prospective customers

You’ll be working independently across the software development lifecycle, delivering high-quality applications that align with our technology architecture and business priorities. This is a hands‑on role with a strong focus on building, designing, and testing, while actively contributing to the automation team and Insight and Care Squad. You’ll also take an active part across the SDLC and follow best practices and guardrails.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with teammates in a collaborative way, regularly achieving consensus with peers and delivering customer focused solutions.
  • Build, design, test and actively contribute to work within the automation team and specified squad.
  • Actively taking part across the SDLC.
  • Follow best practice and guardrails.
  • Learn and grow enterprise engineering skills (e.g. DevOps) skills.
  • Actively pursue self-development to enhance personal performance (and squad delivery).
  • Work in and contribute to an agile, iterative environment.
  • Apply a growth mindset with stakeholders and team.
  • Support industry best practice and ASB policy and guidelines across ASB’sintelligent automation applications and lifecycle.
  • Support to the strategy of the Intelligent Automation suites.
  • Support and contribute to the maintenance of the software and seeking technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching from others in the team.
  • If required, provide excellent customer services on the daily functioning of applications for our stakeholders.

  • Passion for technology, with a growing understanding of how it is consumed and the impact it has.
  • Clear communication skills, with a willingness to share knowledge and contribute to the development of others.
  • Experience in configurating and deploying strategy within a collection platform preferred
