Job summary

Presbyterian Support Northern’s Hamilton Family Works service is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to work in schools. You will carry a caseload of families, provide early intervention and preventive social work to vulnerable children and their whānau, and deliver individual and group work using a strengths-based, multi-systemic approach to encourage positive and lasting change.

A professional, warm manner, a tertiary Social Work degree, registration with the SWRB, a full NZ driver licence, and

Qualifications

• A tertiary level degree, majoring in Social Work.
• Registration with the Social Workers Registration Board.
• Full, clean NZ driver licence and a reliable vehicle.
• Experience as a Social Worker or a new graduate with some experience working with children.
• Advanced interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
• Excellent ability to maintain professional boundaries and KPI adherence.
• Confident, working knowledge of Tikanga Maori; commitment to Tangata Whenua.
• Experience working with children in a school setting is advantageous.

Our Hamilton Family Works service is looking for a Social Worker to work in schools. On a day-to-day basis, you will be working in a local school/s setting, working with a case load of families, providing early intervention and preventive social work services to vulnerable children and teens, and their whanau. This includes individual and group work, and using our strengths-based, multi-systemic approach to encourage positive and lasting change

Ngā pūkenga kei a koe I Your Skills and Experience

To be successful as a Social Worker in Schools (SWIS) you will have a professional, warm and engaging nature; and have / be:

• A tertiary level degree, majoring / specialised in Social Work
• Registration with the Social Workers Registration Board
• Full, clean NZ driver licence, and a reliable vehicle
• Experience working as a Social Worker or you could be a new graduate who has some expereince working with children.
• Advanced interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, their families, the local school and your colleagues
• Excellent ability to maintain professional boundaries, meet KPI's and adhere to practice requirements
• Confident, working knowledge of Tikanga Maori; and commitment to working with Tangata Whenua
• Experience working with children in a school setting would be a distinct advantage
