Job summary

PGG Wrightson Seeds in Ashburton, NZ, seeks an experienced operational leader to manage the Agripro site. Reporting to the National Operations Manager, you will lead up to 36 staff across day and night shifts, owning safety, quality, service, cost and asset reliability.

You will build a capable team, implement systems and discipline to deliver consistent results, plan workforce needs, recruit and develop talent, and collaborate with internal teams and customers to provide reliable service.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in plant or site management.
• Experience leading teams and setting clear standards for performance, safety and accountability.
• Strong operational planning, resource management and problem-solving skills.
• Sound commercial judgement, including experience managing budgets, costs and performance measures.
• A practical approach to health and safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
• The ability to remain calm, adaptable and decisive in a busy operational environment.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, computer and administrative skills.

PGG Wrightson Seeds is a leading global seed business committed to enriching land, life and people through seeds and science.

We are looking for an experienced operational leader to manage our Agripro site in Ashburton. Reporting remotely to the National Operations Manager, this role has full responsibility for the safe, reliable and efficient performance of the site.

You will lead a team of up to 36 staff across day and night-shift operations. This is a key site leadership role requiring a visible and practical leader who can set clear expectations, develop people and lift performance across safety, quality, service, cost and asset reliability.

You will take ownership of the operation, build a capable and accountable team, and put the systems and discipline in place to deliver consistent results.

What we are looking for

• Proven leadership experience in plant or site management, manufacturing, production, warehousing, distribution, agriculture or a similar operational environment.
• Experience leading teams and setting clear standards for performance, safety and accountability.
• Strong operational planning, resource management and problem-solving skills.
• Sound commercial judgement, including experience managing budgets, costs and performance measures.
• A practical approach to health and safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
• The ability to remain calm, adaptable and decisive in a busy operational environment.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, computer and administrative skills.
• Seed processing experience is not essential but would be highly advantageous. Experience in arable crop processing, feed milling or a related processing environment would also be well regarded.
• Mechanical aptitude or experience working with processing equipment, maintenance teams and site assets would be highly advantageous.
• A senior site leadership role with real ownership and the opportunity to improve performance for a market leader.
