Kick-start your career. Build real projects. Go places.
Looking for a civil engineering role that’s hands-on, fast-paced, and anything but boring?
Want real responsibility, real projects, and the chance to grow quickly with support from people who want to see you succeed?
At MAP Projects, we’re on the lookout for another early-career Site Engineer who’s keen to learn, step up, and be part of an ambitious team delivering exciting civil projects across the Mid to Upper North Island and the Pacific Islands.
MAP Projects is a heavy civil engineering contractor based in the Bay of Plenty. Our work takes us wherever the challenge is- across the North Island and offshore into the Pacific. We’ve recently completed two large Dam projects, a Wharf upgrade in the Cook Islands and a hydro power scheme and transmission line in Vanuatu, with more exciting projects ahead.
This is a role for someone who wants more than sitting behind a desk. You’ll get exposure to the full project lifecycle and be trusted early on.
You’ll thrive here if you:
Like seeing the big picture, not just your own task
Enjoy solving practical problems and thinking on your feet
Are comfortable speaking up, asking questions, and sharing ideas
Can work independently but also enjoy being part of a close-knit crew
If you’re practical, curious, and keen to build confidence in a real construction environment, you’ll fit right in.
A Civil Engineering degree or diploma
Around 2+ years’ experience preferred, but we’re open to less if you bring:
A great attitude
A willingness to learn
Initiative and enthusiasm
The ability to work with a diverse team and pull together toward shared goals
Strong practical thinking and follow-through
A genuine commitment to Health & Safety- it’s critical in what we do
Experience with programming, procurement, or subcontractors is a plus (but not essential—we’ll teach you)

Take a look at the timelapse below of the recently completed Matawii Reservoir in Kaikohe. This is the kind of project our young Engineers get involved in - with a recent young Engineer played a key role in its delivery.
Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
