Job summary

WasteCo in Invercargill is seeking a reliable Sidelifter Truck Driver to join our Solid Waste Team. You will operate a sidelifter truck, collect kerbside refuse and recycling, and maintain safety and customer service standards.

Reporting to the Solid Waste Manager, you will perform pre-start checks, logbook entries, and route adherence while liaising with customers and supporting a strong safety culture. Pre-employment checks apply.

Qualifications

• A current Class 4 Licence.
• W, T and R endorsements (preferred but not essential).
• Previous driving or waste industry experience (preferred but not essential).
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
• A positive, reliable and team-focused attitude.
• The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sidelifter truck safely and efficiently.
• Collect kerbside refuse and recycling.
• Complete daily pre-start vehicle checks and logbook entries.
• Follow designated transport routes.
• Load and unload materials safely.
• Complete customer site inductions and complying with site requirements.
• Maintain accurate paperwork and records.
• Liaise with customers and provide excellent service.
• Report incidents, hazards and vehicle defects promptly.
• Attend toolbox meetings and contribute to a strong safety culture.
• Assist at transfer stations and carry out additional duties as required.

This role involves operating a sidelifter truck to collect kerbside refuse and recyclable materials while ensuring safe, efficient and professional service to our customers.

About the Role

Reporting to the Solid Waste Manager, you will be responsible for collecting and transporting waste and recyclable materials safely and efficiently throughout the Invercargill region.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Operating a sidelifter truck safely and efficiently.
• Collecting kerbside refuse and recycling.
• Completing daily pre-start vehicle checks and logbook entries.
• Following designated transport routes.
• Loading and unloading materials safely.
• Completing customer site inductions and complying with site requirements.
