Job summary

WasteCo in Oamaru is seeking a reliable Driver (Part-Time) to join our team. The role focuses on safe and efficient collection and transportation of waste and recycling, operating a range of vehicles, and delivering excellent service. You will report to the Operations Manager and work with our Solid Waste team.

Requirements include Class 1, 2, and 4 licences, a positive attitude, good communication, safety awareness, and basic computer skills. Minimum 24 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Full Class 1, 2 and 4 Driver Licences required.
• Positive, friendly attitude and strong work ethic.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work safely and follow procedures.
• Basic computer or iPad skills advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate rear loader, side loader and gantry trucks.
• Complete waste and recycling collections safely and efficiently.
• Conduct daily vehicle pre-start checks and logbook entries.
• Provide excellent customer service and address collection issues promptly.
• Complete required paperwork accurately.
• Attend toolbox meetings and maintain a strong safety focus.
• Assist with general labouring duties as required.
• Occasionally travel to Timaru for operational requirements.

WasteCo is looking for a reliable and safety-focused Driver to join our Oamaru team on a part-time basis.

This role offers a minimum of 24 hours per week and is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating machinery, and providing excellent service to customers.

About the Role

As a Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection and transportation of waste and recycling materials. You'll operate a range of vehicles and equipment while ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard. The role reports to the Operations Manager and works closely with our Solid Waste team.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate rear loader, side loader and gantry trucks
• Complete waste and recycling collections safely and efficiently
• Conduct daily vehicle pre-start checks and logbook entries
• Provide excellent customer service and address collection issues promptly
• Complete required paperwork accurately
• Attend toolbox meetings and maintain a strong safety focus
• Assist with general labouring duties as required
• Occasionally travel to Timaru for operational requirements

What You'll Bring
