Job summary

Zespri is seeking a Shipping Operator for a fixed-term role within our global Supply Chain team at Mount Maunganui. You will coordinate kiwifruit shipments to global markets and support efficient delivery to customers worldwide.

You will manage schedules, monitor plans, and collaborate with planning, logistics, finance and external partners, ensuring timely, accurate operations and reporting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a logistics, shipping, supply chain or related operational role.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with data reporting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship abilities.
• Highly organised with attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with readiness to resolve issues.
• Experience with SAP or similar systems would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain charter vessel shipping schedules throughout the season.
• Monitor and update shipping plans to ensure timely delivery to key markets.
• Collaborate with planning, logistics, finance, market operations and external partners.
• Manage shipping data and reporting across systems including Excel, SAP and planning tools.
• Assist with freight payment processing and shipping-related financial administration.
• Track vessel performance and resolve operational issues proactively.
• Provide operational support across the Shipping team and container logistics as needed.

The Shipping Operator role is a fixed-term position within our global Supply Chain team, reporting directly to the Shipping Operations Manager. You'll play a key role in ensuring our shipping programme runs smoothly, coordinating the movement of kiwifruit to global markets and supporting the efficient delivery of fruit to customers around the world.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Creating and maintaining charter vessel shipping schedules throughout the season
• Monitoring and updating shipping plans to ensure fruit is delivered to key markets on time
• Working closely with planning, logistics, finance, market operations and external shipping partners
• Managing shipping data and reporting across systems including Excel, SAP and planning tools
• Supporting freight payment processing and shipping-related financial administration
• Tracking vessel performance and proactively resolving operational issues
• Providing operational support across the broader Shipping team, including container logistics cover when required

Skills

With experience in shipping, logistics or supply chain operations, combined with strong organisational and communication skills, you will meet the following selection criteria:

• Proven experience in a logistics, shipping, supply chain or related operational role
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data and reporting
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to pick up the phone and resolve issues
• Experience with SAP or similar systems would be advantageous
• Shipping industry experience is beneficial but not essential
