Job summary

Franklin Smith Limited is seeking multiple experienced sheet metal workers in Wellington, NZ. You will mark out, shape, form and join sheetmetal and other materials, with duties covering reading blueprints, measuring, welding, fabrication and safe practice.

Candidates must be NZ citizens or residents with at least 3 years of full-time sheetmetal experience on commercial or civil projects. The role is permanent, 30+ hours per week, with Monday to Friday work and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• NZ citizen or resident requirement.
• At least 3 years full-time sheetmetal relevant work experience on commercial or civil projects.

Responsibilities

• Create construction or installation diagrams.
• Review blueprints or specifications to determine work requirements.
• Measure materials or objects for installation or assembly.
• Mark reference points on construction materials.
• Assemble products or production equipment.
• Weld metal components.
• Plan layout of construction, installation, or repairs.
• Smooth surfaces with abrasive materials or tools.
• Fabricate parts or components.
• Select construction materials.
• Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in compliance with Franklin Smith policies and relevant legislation.
• Other duties as reasonably required within the capability of the employee’s role may also be required from time to time.

The ideal candidate will also have:

• Been able to pass police check and drug test.

About the role:

• Minimum 30 hours per week.
• Hourly wage ranging from $28.00 - $35.00.
• Permanent role – Monday to Friday, with extra shifts available on weekends.
• As part of your employment, you may be required to travel to a different region for a different project, including, Auckland, Manawatū-Whanganui, Marlborough, Waikato, Wellington, Otago, Nelson, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Northland, West Coast, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Gisborne, Southland.
• You will be given reasonable notice if you are required to relocate to another region. Franklin Smith will cover transportation and accommodation expenses related to the relocation.
