Job summary

Franklin Smith Limited is seeking multiple experienced sheet metal workers to join our team on commercial and civil projects across New Zealand. You will mark out, shape, form, join, weld and fabricate sheetmetal components, interpreting blueprints and specifications while maintaining strict safety standards.

The role is permanent with a minimum 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday and optional weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• NZ citizen or resident with at least 3 years full-time sheetmetal experience on commercial or civil projects.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Commitment to safety and Franklin Smith policies.

Responsibilities

• Mark out, shape, form and join sheetmetal and related materials.
• Review blueprints and specifications to determine work requirements.
• Measure materials and distances for installation or fabrication.
• Weld metal components and fabricate parts as needed.
• Plan layouts for construction, installation or repairs.
• Ensure work complies with safety policies and quality standards.
• Travel to different regions for projects as required.

About you:

Successful candidates must be a NZ citizen or resident and have at least 3 years full-time sheetmetal relevant work experience on commercial or civil projects.

Duties include:

• create construction or installation diagrams
• review blueprints or specifications to determine work requirements
• measure materials or objects for installation or assembly
• mark reference points on construction materials
• assemble products or production equipment
• weld metal components
• plan layout of construction, installation, or repairs
• smooth surfaces with abrasive materials or tools
• fabricate parts or components
• select construction materials
• Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in compliance with Franklin Smith policies and relevant legislation.
• Other duties as reasonably required within the capability of the employee’s role may also be required from time to time.

The ideal candidate will also have:

• Been able to pass police check and drug test.

About the role:

• Minimum 30 hours per week.
• Hourly wage ranging from $28.00 - $35.00.
• Permanent role - Monday to Friday, with extra shifts available on weekends.
• As part of your employment, you may be required to travel to a different region for a different project, including, Auckland, Manawatū-Whanganui, Marlborough, Waikato, Wellington, Otago, Nelson, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Northland, West Coast, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Gisborne, Southland.
• You will be given reasonable notice if you are required to relocate to another region. Franklin Smith will cover transportation and accommodation expenses related to the relocation.
