Job summary

Department of Conservation (DOC) seeks a Team Lead Internal Applications to guide the team supporting DOC's core platforms, including ServiceNow. You will shape platform strategy, prioritise enhancements, and ensure secure, well-governed applications that meet business needs.

You will lead developers and system admins, collaborate with leaders and vendors, and champion pragmatic use of off-the-shelf solutions to avoid unnecessary custom work. Wellington preferred, open to Auckland.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading application development, platform engineering, or systems administration teams.
• Strong expertise in ServiceNow administration, configuration, development, or a comparable enterprise SaaS platform.
• Strategic mindset balancing business needs, technical sustainability, risk and value.
• Experience delivering modern application services using DevOps, change and release management.
• Ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across environments.
• Passion for developing people and building high-performing teams.
• Strong understanding of information security, architecture, governance and best practice.
• Appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and working with Māori and diverse perspectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team of developers and system administrators for internal applications including ServiceNow.
• Drive platform strategy, roadmaps, enhancements, upgrades and integrations.
• Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering growth and collaboration.
• Ensure applications are secure, well-governed and aligned to standards.
• Partner with stakeholders, vendors and Māori to meet evolving organisational needs.
