Job summary

AB Equipment, based in North Harbour, New Zealand, is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic for construction equipment. You’ll work autonomously in the field or a well-equipped workshop, fault-finding hydraulics, mechanicals and electrical issues while delivering excellent customer service.

Ideal candidates are trade-qualified in Diesel/Heavy Plant with relevant experience, hold a full licence, and are ready for call-outs. Training and development are supported within a safety-focused team.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified in Diesel / Heavy Plant or equivalent, with relevant experience.
• Able to work independently in the field and fault-find/repair hydraulic, mechanical and electrical issues.
• Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Full driver’s licence required; F, W, T and R endorsements preferred but not essential.
• Safety-conscious team player with a positive can-do attitude, willingness to learn new equipment, basic Windows 365 skills and availability for the call-out roster.

Responsibilities

• Fault-find and repair hydraulic, mechanical and electrical issues in the field or workshop.
• Provide exceptional customer service and technical support on-site.
• Operate autonomously in the field and/or in a well-equipped workshop.
