Job summary

Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa in Palmerston North seeks a Veterinary Teaching Technician to support teaching for the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and provide examplary administrative assistance. Are you passionate about teaching and working with animals? Tawharau Ora, Massey University's School of Veterinary Science is seeking a great person to join our Veterinary Teaching Technician team. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based on our Manawatu campus in Palmerston North.

As a veterinary teaching technician, you will provide teaching support predominantly for the Bachelor of Veterinary Science, along with some administrative support.

• Supporting practical and clinical classes, including set-up, supervision, and assisting students
• Developing teaching resources (videos, online tutorials, lab guides)
• Handling a range of species (commonly dogs, cats, horses, cattle, sheep, and occasionally deer)
• Complying with animal ethics and health & safety standards.

Our current team of six teaching technicians have substantial depth of small animal clinical skills, so we would be especially interested if you have large animal clinical skills. The ability to integrate well with our current team is also an important quality we are looking for in our next team member.

We are looking for someone who:

• has worked in a veterinary clinic and has strong clinical skills.
• is digitally competent and detail oriented
• is organised, positive and proactive
• works well with others
• has a full New Zealand drivers licence
• has a veterinary degree (BVSc, DVM, VMD; preferably registrable in New Zealand) or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology degree. A veterinary nursing qualification may be considered with relevant experience
